National Characteristics Re-established by the Han River
Nobel Prize for Literature

Nobel Prize for Literature Han Kang is a great achievement for Korea, which has been mired in decline while damaging the national dignity of our ancestors founded and giving up sovereignty. He was able to attach a ventilator to the national dignity and start CPR. The name 'Han Kang' literally means a big river. In the spirit of the world, Korean writers built a big river.

The Han River Nobel Prize served as an opportunity for Korea to make a leap forward as a cultural powerhouse as Kim Koo wanted.

Kim had a great faith in North Korea, which aims to free the Republic of Korea from Japanese slaves and find dignity to live like a human being. Kim's usual idea of an independent nation is a cultural powerhouse that goes beyond an economic powerhouse.

One competency that Koreans must possess in order to become a cultural powerhouse is literacy. Literacy refers to the ability to create one's own first-person tapestry horizon by making texts that objectively recognize the situation in the world right now and by combining the first-person stories that become the main characters. Literacy refers to the ability to insert one's own life into updating the world's knowledge, which is different from the knowledge we think. Even the best knowledge is that updates of situations given now will naturally be discarded over time.

I would also like to highly appreciate Debra Smith's hard work in translating Han Kang's novels and writings into the context of people all over the world, using her literacy skills. She failed to translate what she wrote in English into Korean, and she is having difficulty translating what she wrote into English. She knows that only writers who can write quite clearly, in the context of both cultures, can translate. Debra, who majored in English literature at Cambridge University in the U.K., decided on her career as a translator and became interested in Korean literature, which was a "gap market" in the translation industry. Having started learning Korean by herself in 2010, she is known to have studied Korean to broaden her understanding of Korean culture in general, taking master's and doctoral courses in Korean studies at the University of London's Institute for Oriental and African Studies..

The storytelling that penetrates the world that Mr. Kim Koo is talking about is the result of this literacy. Without literacy, the vision to bring the past to the present and the future to the present has disappeared.

The next generation of leaders who will lead the Republic of Korea should be able to design Korea's own cultural workshops based on these literacy skills. In the next presidential election, we look forward to the emergence of leaders with literacy skills who can design Korea's cultural workshops with hypercones
