Japanese woman's Internet influencer killed during live broadcast, 10,000 people seen! Killer gets prospect sympathy for truth reveal
On March 11, 2025, Mogami Ai, a 22-year-old female streamer, was watching "The Challenge to Walk the Yamanote Line" live at Takadanobaba Station in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, Japan, and about 10,000 viewers were watching it in real time. Suddenly, a middle-aged man rushed in and stabbed her several times, and blood poured out momentarily, and people around him were embarrassed and didn't know what to do. Viewers thought it was a script at first, but after grasping the situation, they urgently reported it to the police. Police and medical staff quickly arrived at the scene, overpowered the man and transferred Mogami Ai to a hospital, but she eventually died without receiving treatment.
In the early days of the incident, the whole online community sympathized with the miserable dead Mogami child, but public opinion completely turned around when her past and the killer's intertwined circumstances were revealed. Rather, the public began to sympathize with the killer and said directly, "All the fault lies with the Mogami child." Mogami's real name is Ari Sato, who came from a dysfunctional family who, after giving birth to her child at 17, went into nightclubs and host bars without caring for her, and spent a fortune on her host's performance. To raise money, she worked as an aid worker, worked as a receptionist, and later received gifts from her "favorite brothers" on live television, with Kenichi Takano being her top sponsor.
Kenichi Takano, 42, is an ordinary office worker, who is introverted and single, was fascinated by Mogami's adorable image, sending gifts and getting personal contacts. Since September 2022, Mogami has frequently borrowed money from him for reasons such as "lost his wallet" and encouraged him to borrow from a lending company. In just three months, Takano not only wasted all his savings but also took out a loan to lend her a total of 2.5 million yen (equivalent to his annual income). However, Mogami, who promised to "pay back soon," was completely out of touch after the loan expired, blocked all contacts, and did not care even though the court ruled him absent.
When Takano was in a state of mental breakdown, he discovered that Mogami was still raising money on live television and had foreshadowed a "walk on the Yamanote Line." He traveled from Tochigi Prefecture to Tokyo and waited for her at Takadanobaba Station, eventually committing violence during a live television show that was watched by 10,000 people. After the truth was revealed, netizens sympathized with Takano's situation when they learned that he had been exploited for a long time and lost control due to being cornered. The current case is still being handled, and a death sentence is very difficult in Japan, so Takano will be sentenced to life in prison with a high probability. This tragedy warns the world: Violence is never a way to solve a problem, and acting on impulse will only lead to irreversible consequences.
