The patient's brain CT results were dismal. He was brain dead, and it was not strange even if he had cardiac arrest right now. The surgery was meaningless. There is no chance of his survival.

The story of this patient can be uncomfortable to read. For that reason, I haven't written this story for years, but I'm writing the case of the death of a trainee to blame again.

The patient was an ordinary-looking middle-aged woman. Her healthy son in his early 20s came to the emergency room as his guardian, and his expression was stunned. I would have done the same. It's hard for me to experience such an absurd incident in my life. It must have been too difficult to understand the situation to feel the feeling of sadness.

The witness reportedly found the patient in the trunk of the car. I don't understand that a person was found in the trunk of a car, but what was harder to understand was the witness's response. He said he reported it to 112 only after leaving the person in the trunk for a day.

I still don't know who the culprit is. I was only involved in the patient's treatment and didn't care about who the culprit was. However, it was easy to recognize that it was a violent crime, not an accident, in common sense.

After coming down to the emergency room, there was only so much I could do. The patient's brain on the CT scan of the brain was necrotic in black. It means that no treatment is promising due to brain death. Like other patients, operating with the concept of 'surgery will kill you, but let's help you to endure as much as possible' was hopeless.

I spoke to my son, who looked blank.

``I hate to say this, but I'll be blunt. Your mother has no chance. She's already brain dead, and surgery won't do you any favors.

In my experience, it will last three days if you have surgery, or a week if you don't. It means it's your decision not to have surgery. Like my son's blank expression, I had no situation. I have no particular memory of the patient since then. After hospitalization, it was the same as other brain-dead patients, and there was no particular difference in treatment.

What was different was a month or so, as time passed. It was a time when I was busy looking at other patients as usual, but the manager, who was the patient's professor, called me to the clinic.

" You got this patient in the emergency room, right? You also explained that you should not operate. The police told me to submit an affidavit, so you write it and give it to me by the afternoon."

Looking at the documents that the police gave me, I could see how the case was going. The criminal was caught and he was making a hard excuse that he was not the one who killed the patient.

He argued that he would have lived if he had operated, and that his condition would have been worsened by medication he had been hospitalized and administered. So the police asked for evidence that the doctor who treated him did not kill him.

This situation, to me, was one of the biggest traumatic events I had in my major days.

There's another person who killed a person, but he said he didn't kill the killer himself. I killed him, the doctor. He was a brain-dead patient who would die faster if he had surgery, but would he have survived if he had surgery? I killed him because I told him not to operate? The drug that kept him in this world for even an hour killed him?

I'm the one doing the job of saving the patient, and I'm the one who tried to put the patient's breath, and the one who killed the person blames me. He said he didn't kill him. The doctor killed him.

The time it took to write the affidavit was short. The reason for not performing the operation was clear, and the reason for prescribing the administered drug was clear. I finished writing the affidavit in 10 minutes and delivered it to the manager right after lunch.

After that, nothing happened. It all ended with an affidavit. It didn't even get called to court like other common false stories.

But what happened at that time still remains a shock. Why should I have been named the murderer when there was someone who killed someone else? It was then that I first realized that a person who did a job of saving a person could be named the murderer by a person who killed a person for not being able to save him.

A trainee in his 20s died due to abusive behavior of an Army company commander. The cause of death was heat stroke and rhabdomyolysis (muscle necrosis) caused by abusive behavior.

Doctors also pointed out the reason for the death, saying, "There was another perpetrator, but it took three hours to transfer him to the hospital." It feels like being designated as a murderer because it is a job that saves people. I know that well. There is another perpetrator.
